Vice President Urges Students to Lead Disciplined Lives and Stay Away from Drugs

Agartala, March 8: Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan addressed the 14th Convocation Ceremony of Tripura University on Sunday. He urged young graduates to move forward with purpose, avoid drugs, and responsibly use technology for the benefit of society and the nation.

The Vice President emphasized that today’s youth stand at a historic moment as India rapidly progresses towards the Vision 2047 of a developed nation. He highlighted the transformative role of technology and called on students to use it positively and responsibly. He stated that purposeful progress is essential for the advancement of society and humanity.

Radhakrishnan described Tripura as a state rich in culture and heritage. Reflecting on his earlier visit to the Tripura Sundari Temple, he noted the deep spiritual and cultural significance of the region. He praised the collaborative development efforts of both the central and state governments. Mentioning the Mata Bari Tourism Circuit, he stated that this project would strengthen Tripura’s position on the global map of spiritual and eco-tourism, create job opportunities, and boost the local economy.

He stressed the importance of connectivity in linking the Northeast with the rest of the country. Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, significant improvements in rail, road, and air connectivity have been made over the past decade. These developments have brought the people of this region closer to the rest of the nation, embodying the spirit of “One India, Great India.”

Encouraging students to serve the nation with dedication, the Vice President highlighted the importance of unity in India’s diversity. Quoting the famous Tamil poet Subramania Bharati, he stated that every citizen is a guardian of the nation, and collective effort and unity will lead the country to greater achievements.

Praising the progress of Tripura University, he noted that the institution has emerged as a vibrant center for teaching, research, and innovation. He acknowledged the increasing number of high-quality research publications, funded projects, and intellectual property initiatives, reflecting the university’s growing academic stature. The Vice President also digitally inaugurated the Faculty Development Center building and residential quarters on campus.

The convocation ceremony was attended by Tripura’s Governor, the Chief Rector of Tripura University, Indrasen Reddy Nallu, Chief Minister Manik Saha, Chief Secretary Jitendra Kumar Sinha, Vice Chancellor Shyamal Das, Registrar Sameer Kumar Sil, faculty members, distinguished guests, parents, and graduating students.
