Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan Attends Himachal Pradesh Central University Convocation

Shimla, March 14: Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan visited Himachal Pradesh for the first time since taking office. He was welcomed at Kangra Airport by Governor Kavan Gupta, Agriculture Minister Chandra Kumar, and other dignitaries.

Following this, the Vice President attended the 9th convocation ceremony of Himachal Pradesh Central University in Dharamshala. He praised the university’s ‘Community Lab’ initiative and efforts towards creating a drug-free campus. Radhakrishnan urged the youth to dedicate themselves to nation-building, reject substance abuse, and always prioritize the nation with the motto ‘Nation First.’

He expressed happiness that most medal winners at the convocation were women, highlighting their increasing empowerment and contributions to national progress. Celebrating Himachal Pradesh as the ‘Land of Gods’ and ‘Brave Land,’ he noted the state’s significant contributions to the armed forces and its rich hospitality, culture, and traditions.

The Vice President emphasized that modern universities should prioritize faculty development, encourage innovation, and strengthen collaboration to build a globally competitive education system.

Highlighting the vision for a developed India by 2047, he stated that students and youth are crucial stakeholders in realizing this aspiration. He called for inclusive development, ensuring no state or class in society is left behind.

The event was attended by Governor Kavan Gupta, Agriculture Minister Chandra Kumar, Leader of the Opposition in the Himachal Pradesh Assembly Jairam Thakur, and other dignitaries.

After the ceremony, the Vice President visited the Chamunda Temple before heading directly to the airport for his flight to Delhi.
