New Delhi, February 19: The All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) has called for the closure of liquor shops during Ramadan, prompting a surge in political commentary. In response, Vinod Bansal, the national spokesperson for the Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP), shared his views on Thursday.
Bansal stated in an interview, “This party needs to clarify why they speak against drinking while alive but discuss rivers of alcohol in paradise after death. They also want alcohol, youth, and 72 virgins there. They mislead Muslim youth into terrorism under the guise of jihad. They should first decide if they want alcohol in paradise; if so, why push for its closure here? They need to resolve this issue before advocating for liquor bans.”
He also addressed discussions about granting holidays to Muslim employees during Ramadan in Maharashtra, similar to Telangana’s approach. Bansal remarked, “As I previously mentioned regarding the Telangana government’s decision, such statements lead the country towards division. Any form of appeasement based on communal lines is unacceptable, and the Telangana government should avoid this. It is also not feasible in Maharashtra. Abu Azmi, who advocates for holidays for Muslim employees during Ramadan, is known for his ties to terrorists, which is why he makes such statements. He should think carefully before speaking.”
Bansal criticized Maulana Arshad Madani, president of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind, for his remarks. He said, “Muslim leaders should inspire youth to follow the right path, yet they talk about violence. Madani became so upset over the simple term ‘ghar wapsi’ that he was reminded of his mother’s milk. Those who claim that followers of Islam fear no one seem to be frightened by such a minor phrase.”
