Val Chmerkovskiy Returns to ‘Dancing With the Stars’ After One-Episode Suspension
Val Chmerkovskiy has returned to 'Dancing With the Stars' after a one-episode suspension for a controversial social media post.
Val Chmerkovskiy has resumed his participation in ‘Dancing With the Stars’ after being suspended for one episode. His return follows a controversial comment he made about judge Carrie Ann Inaba’s critique of his wife, Jenna Johnson.
Chmerkovskiy was sidelined after posting a TikTok that seemed to reference Will Smith’s 2022 Oscars incident while defending his wife. The production company, BBC Studios, stated that his post did not align with the values of the show. They confirmed his suspension, saying, “The well-being of everyone who works on Dancing With the Stars is non-negotiable.”
During Chmerkovskiy’s absence, Johnson performed with pro dancer Alan Bersten in the Dedication Night episode, earning a score of 37 out of 40 for their Viennese waltz.
Chmerkovskiy has since apologized for his remarks, expressing regret: “In a moment where my instinct was to defend my wife, I made a poor decision… I hate that she was caught in the middle of my bad judgment.” His return is anticipated for the upcoming horror-themed episode of the show.
