Uttar Pradeshs Growth Highlighted in Governors Address

Lucknow, February 9: In a joint session of the legislature, Governor Anandiben Patel presented a comprehensive overview of Uttar Pradesh’s development. The address covered various aspects, from the expansion of education to the progress of aspirational districts, a historic rise in excise revenue, and the vision for a developed India. The Governor conveyed that Uttar Pradesh is firmly positioning itself among the leading states in the country through administrative reforms, financial stability, and inclusive development.

Highlighting achievements in education, the Governor announced the appointment of 6,808 assistant teachers and 1,939 government teachers, strengthening the educational framework with a total of 8,966 new appointments. The establishment of 778 ICT labs in schools, smart classrooms in 1,236 government secondary schools, and the creation of six new state universities and 71 new government colleges have significantly improved the quality and accessibility of higher and technical education.

The Governor also noted the progress of aspirational districts, mentioning that eight districts in Uttar Pradesh, including Balrampur, Siddharthnagar, Sonbhadra, Chandauli, Fatehpur, and Bahraich, have shown remarkable improvements in key indicators such as health, education, agriculture, and nutrition, exemplifying inclusive development.

Furthermore, the Governor highlighted the impressive growth in excise revenue, which rose from ₹14,273 crores in 2016-17 to an expected ₹52,573 crores by 2024-25. A robust policy, transparent systems, and effective administrative control have set a target of ₹63,000 crores for the fiscal year 2025-26, clearly reflecting Uttar Pradesh’s financial strength and success in revenue management.

The Governor emphasized that the Uttar Pradesh government’s clear goal is to accelerate the pace of development, enhance administrative transparency, and establish the state as a leader in line with the vision of a “developed India.” She expressed confidence that through good governance, constitutional values, and coordinated public participation, Uttar Pradesh will not only strengthen the national economy but also establish a unique and inspiring identity as an effective model of inclusive, balanced, and sustainable development across the country.
