USA Team Welcomes Ehsan Adil as Replacement for Jasdeep Singh

Dubai, February 9: The Event Technical Committee for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 has approved Ehsan Adil as a replacement for Jasdeep Singh in the USA team. Jasdeep sustained a shoulder injury during a warm-up match against New Zealand on February 5, which forced him to withdraw from the tournament. Consequently, the USA opted for Adil as his replacement.

Before officially adding a player to the team, the Event Technical Committee (ETC) must grant approval for any player replacement.

The ICC stated, “The Event Technical Committee for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 has approved Ehsan Adil as a replacement for Jasdeep Singh in the USA team.”

Adil has played three Test matches and six One Day Internationals (ODIs) for Pakistan but has yet to represent the USA. He made his debut for Pakistan in both Test and ODI formats in 2013.

In his three Test matches, Adil has taken five wickets, while in six ODIs, he has claimed four wickets. He has achieved 245 wickets in 67 first-class matches at an average of 22.86 and has taken 98 wickets in 67 List A matches.

On February 7, the USA faced a defeat against India in a Group A match held in Mumbai, losing by 29 runs. After restricting India to a score of 161/9 in their allotted 20 overs, the USA managed to score only 132 runs, losing eight wickets.

Currently, the USA is positioned fifth in Group A, while India and Pakistan hold the first and second spots, respectively, each with one win. The USA team will face Pakistan on February 10, followed by matches against the Netherlands on February 13 and Namibia on February 15.
