According to The New York Times, Trump stated that the operation took place in international waters near Venezuela, where US forces intercepted a small vessel allegedly carrying narcotics. “Intelligence confirmed that the boat was being used for drug trafficking,” Trump wrote, though he provided no evidence to support his claim.

Trump also posted a 33-second aerial surveillance video, which showed a small boat drifting at sea before being struck by a missile and exploding. The nationality of the individuals killed has not been disclosed, and Trump did not identify any specific drug cartel or criminal group allegedly linked to the incident.

This marks the fifth such US military operation since September 2, and according to Trump, the 27th fatal encounter targeting alleged drug traffickers in the region.

The US Department of Defense has yet to issue an official statement on the operation or confirm the details provided by the former president.
