During the talks, both sides explored various aspects of the India-US defence partnership and discussed future opportunities for collaboration. Emphasis was placed on joint military exercises, training programmes, professional exchanges, capacity building, and improving mutual coordination. This interaction marks an important step in solidifying the growing strategic and defence relationship between the two nations.
Defence experts highlight that this meeting is grounded in common values, mutual trust, and a shared vision for international peace and security. Notably, India and the United States have already signed a historic agreement on defence cooperation. A few months ago, India’s Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and US Defence Secretary Peter Hegseth signed a 10-year ‘Framework for the US-India Major Defence Partnership’ during a significant meeting in Kuala Lumpur.
This framework outlines a decade-long commitment to strengthening defence collaboration. Following this, the 22nd Military Cooperation Group meeting took place, focusing on topics such as defence cooperation, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and joint training initiatives linked to the agreement.
Senior military officials from both countries also convened in Hawaii on November 3 and 4 for the 22nd meeting of the India-US Military Cooperation Group. This gathering further reinforced defence ties, covering military training, joint exercises, emerging technology sharing, defence industry cooperation, and regional security commitments.
In recent developments, Indian Navy Chief Admiral Dinesh Tripathi visited the United States to explore new opportunities for capacity building in the Indo-Pacific region. His visit aimed to strengthen the already robust maritime partnership between the Indian and US navies. Additionally, a significant bilateral air exercise took place in November between the Indian Air Force and the US Air Force to enhance mutual understanding, tactical collaboration, and interoperability.
