Deadly Blow in Response to Kyiv Attack

This drone operation comes in the wake of a deadly Russian assault on Kyiv early Thursday that killed at least 31 people and left over 150 injured, many critically. While Ukraine has confirmed the drone strikes on Russian infrastructure, the Russian Defence Ministry has not officially acknowledged these claims.

Claims and Counterclaims: Air Assaults Escalate

Ukraine claims that between Friday night and Saturday, it successfully intercepted 45 out of 53 Russian drones launched toward Ukrainian territory. In contrast, Russia claimed to have shot down 338 Ukrainian drones entering its airspace during the same period. Additionally, Russian forces asserted control over another village in eastern Ukraine, though this has not been independently verified.

International Support System for Ukraine’s Defence

To streamline the supply of weapons to Ukraine, the U.S., NATO, and European nations have established a coordinated framework. Under this system, Ukraine identifies its military needs, European countries provide the required funding directly to the U.S., which in turn supplies the arms to NATO. NATO is then responsible for delivering those weapons to Ukraine.
