Producer Amit Jani has announced that the film ‘Udaipur Files’ will be re-released across cinemas in India this February. The film aims to bring the pain and truth surrounding the Kanhiya Lal murder case to the public once again.
Speaking from Sambhal, Amit Jani recalled the challenges faced during the film’s initial release. “Last time, several prominent religious leaders, including major Maulanas, filed petitions in 17 High Courts across the country to stop the screening. The legal case dragged on for months, and many tried to prevent the film from reaching audiences,” he said. Due to technical delays and legal hurdles, the film could not be screened fully, leaving many people unaware of the sensitive issue it portrays.
Jani emphasized the importance of this re-release. “Now is the right time to show the film again and reach out to people with the pain experienced by Kanhiya Lal’s family. We have secured the months of February and March for this purpose, which is an ideal period for the release. Our plan is to screen the film continuously from 27 February onwards to ensure nationwide viewership.”
The producer highlighted the scale of the upcoming release, stating that the film will be shown on thousands of screens. “During the previous release, there were protests, threats to the director and producers, and even damage to cinema halls and banners. But since the atmosphere is calmer now, the country is ready to see the Kanhiya Lal incident through this film. As filmmakers, it is our responsibility to make sure the story reaches every corner of the country,” he added.
The objective behind re-releasing ‘Udaipur Files’ is to create awareness and allow audiences to understand the deeper realities connected to the tragic event. Amit Jani concluded by reaffirming the commitment to bring this important story to the public eye without fear or interruption.
