Singrauli, February 12: A shocking incident has emerged from Singrauli district in Madhya Pradesh, where two individuals were murdered over suspicions of witchcraft. Additionally, two others sustained serious injuries in this violent episode, which has sent shockwaves through the local community.
Authorities have apprehended the suspect responsible for these murders. Police recovered multiple coconuts and an axe from the crime scene, indicating the ritualistic nature of the attack.
According to police reports, the incident occurred in the village of Antarwa, under the jurisdiction of the Jeyawan police station. The suspect, Chhatrapati Singh, believed that his inability to have children and his wife’s miscarriage were due to witchcraft performed by his neighbors, Kewal Singh and Phoolmati.
Chhatrapati accused the pair of using sorcery to prevent him from becoming a father. In a fit of rage, he attacked Kewal Singh and Phoolmati with an axe. When two other villagers intervened to help, they were also assaulted. As a result, Kewal Singh and Phoolmati lost their lives, while the other two victims are currently receiving treatment in the hospital.
Local residents reported that Chhatrapati had long blamed his neighbors for his misfortunes, particularly after his wife suffered a miscarriage. Following the attack, he barricaded himself inside a house. Police were alerted and, after considerable effort, managed to take him into custody.
