Patna, March 3: The Bhagalpur police have achieved significant success in their special campaign against crime, resulting in the arrest of two cyber criminals and a notorious robber. This operation has instilled fear among offenders.
Under the directives of the Senior Superintendent of Police, the cyber police station took action against a fraud gang that exploited the Prime Minister’s Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme to deceive farmers. This gang specifically targeted farmers whose subsidy payments were stalled due to incomplete KYC processes.
The two arrested suspects, Rajkumar Das from Habibpur and Deepak Sharma from Radhanagar, were found in possession of a laptop, mobile phones, six ATM cards, and several bank passbooks.
Investigations revealed that the gang had opened fake bank accounts and illegally siphoned off farmers’ money. Following a written complaint received on February 27, 2026, the cyber police station registered case number 20/2026.
After technical surveillance and a raid, the suspects were apprehended on March 2. Authorities confirmed that two other members of the same gang had already been sent to jail.
In another significant operation, the Bhagalpur police arrested Pawan Kumar Sharma, the main and last absconding suspect in the armed robbery case from Ghogha Bazaar on October 5, 2025. He was captured on March 3 in the Chitra police station area of Deoghar district, Jharkhand. With Sharma’s arrest, all individuals involved in the robbery are now behind bars, as five others had been arrested earlier.
The police reported that Pawan Kumar Sharma has a lengthy criminal history, with multiple cases of robbery and assault registered against him at various police stations.
The Bhagalpur police reiterated their zero-tolerance policy against cyber crime and organized crime. Officers from the cyber police station, DIU, and Ghogha police station played crucial roles in these successful operations.
