
Muzaffarpur, 29 December: A joint operation by Bihar Special Task Force (STF) and Mumbai Crime Branch led to the arrest of two accused involved in a gold robbery worth over Rs 2.5 crore in Navi Mumbai. The arrests took place in Bela police station area of Muzaffarpur district on Monday.
Several stolen gold ornaments were recovered from the accused. The incident dates back to 22 December when criminals attacked a showroom in Nerul, Navi Mumbai, and looted gold jewellery valued at approximately Rs 2 crore 62 lakh 26 thousand. Following this sensational crime, an FIR was registered at the NRI Sagari Police Station in Navi Mumbai.
After committing the crime, the accused fled to Bihar to conceal their identities. Based on technical surveillance and scientific investigation, the Mumbai Crime Branch contacted the Bihar STF. Police received information that the accused were hiding in the Bela police area of Muzaffarpur. Acting promptly, the STF and Mumbai Crime Branch conducted raids and apprehended two suspects.
An STF officer identified the arrested individuals as Ramanand Yadav alias Anand Yadav from Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh, and Ramjanm Gond from Azamgarh. During the search after arrest, two sets of stolen gold necklaces, two lockets, gold chains, four pairs of earrings, and two mobile phones were seized.
Following the arrest, necessary legal formalities were completed in Muzaffarpur. Subsequently, the Mumbai Crime Branch team took both accused on transit remand and departed for Mumbai.
