Turmoil in Haryana Assembly: Independent MLA Appeals for Votes Amidst Opposition Protests

Chandigarh, March 9: The Haryana Assembly witnessed significant commotion on Monday regarding the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections. Independent MLA Rajesh June appealed to the house for votes for Rajya Sabha candidate Satish Nandal, prompting sharp objections from Congress legislators. The Speaker made it clear that there would be no discussions related to the Rajya Sabha elections scheduled for March 16.

Congress MLA Renu Bala raised serious concerns about illegal mining during the session. She reported that mining mafias recently attacked two journalists in her constituency, Sadhrora. Renu Bala demanded immediate action from the government. Additionally, she highlighted the growing issue of drug addiction in Sadhrora, stating that youth are being ruined by substance abuse and called for stringent measures.

The assembly also discussed the cessation of treatments by private hospitals under the Ayushman Bharat-Ayushman Haryana scheme. MLA Ashok Arora, during a notice of attention, stated that nearly 600 private hospitals in the state have halted treatments due to outstanding dues of 700 to 800 crore rupees owed by the government.

In response, Health Minister Aarti Rao clarified that the information presented in the proposal was inaccurate. She emphasized that free treatment is available in all hospitals across Haryana. Aarti Rao noted that the Ayushman Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana is the largest government health scheme in the country, providing each beneficiary with up to 5 lakh rupees in free treatment annually.

The Health Minister further stated that over 200,000 Ayushman cards have been issued in Haryana. A total of 777 hospitals are included in the scheme and are currently providing treatment. So far this year, 82,000 treatment claims have been received, indicating that medical services are ongoing. Hospitals have already been paid 950 crore rupees this year, and a total of 32 lakh people have received treatment, for which 2800 crore rupees have been allocated.
