Washington, 8 January – Following the takeover of Venezuelan oil resources and the arrest of President Nicolas Maduro, the United States has intensified its role in global politics. In a recent announcement, former President Donald Trump stated that Venezuela will purchase only American-made products using the revenue generated from a new US-mediated oil deal.
Trump said that Venezuela has agreed to this arrangement, describing it as a significant shift in Caracas’s economic direction. He highlighted the move as a boost for American manufacturers, farmers, and exporters.
Sharing the information on his social media platform Truth Social, Trump explained that the revenue from the oil agreement will be used by Venezuela to buy various American goods. These include agricultural products, medicines, medical devices, and equipment produced in the United States.
He elaborated that Venezuela will also invest in technology and hardware from the US to improve its electricity grid and energy facilities. Trump termed this a strategic change, noting that after years of economic ties with America’s rivals, Venezuela is now committed to doing business primarily with the United States.
“In other words, Venezuela is committed to trading with the US as its main partner,” Trump wrote. “This is a wise decision and good news for the people of both Venezuela and the US.”
Following the tightening of sanctions on Venezuela, Trump announced US control over the sale of Venezuelan oil. Under a new framework, Venezuela’s exports and revenue will be monitored by the United States.
