Agartala, April 8 : The Sepahijala District and Sessions Court on Thursday granted conditional bail to three persons including an Imam of a bordering village of Tripura who were arrested as suspected Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen of Bangladesh (JMB) operatives on April 4 last. Based on the police claim, the court had sent them to jail for three days but later police couldn’t produce any evidence to prove their link with JMB and failed to justify the slapping of 120(B), 121, 124(a) of IPC and Sections 13(2), 18, 18(b), 38 and 39 of Unlawful Activities Prevention Act. While granting bail the court, however, asked them to report atJatrapur police station after every alternative day and to cooperate with the investigation process. They were prevented from leaving their native villages without prior permission from the court. The police were also asked to expedite the investigation. The police had picked up Imran Hossain (24), Imam in a local mosque, Abul Kashem (33), a teacher and Hamid Ali (38), a farmer of Khaidyakhala village under Jatrapur police station limit on April 3 last based on the input of Subsidiary Intelligence Bureau (SIB) and later they were booked under several non-bailable sections accusing them of involvement in anti-national activities.
