Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha: People Support BJPs Development Agenda

Agartala, April 7: Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha stated on Monday that the people are increasingly aligning with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) due to its development-oriented agenda. He sharply criticized opposition parties ahead of the upcoming Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) elections.

While addressing an election rally in Dasda Bazar, supporting BJP candidate Shailendra Nath, Saha emphasized that the party’s guiding principle is “Nation first, then the party, and finally the individual.” He compared this to parties like the Tipra Motha Party and the Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M), claiming they prioritize personal or party interests over national interests.

Saha asserted that the Tipra Motha Party should be eliminated in this TTAADC election, stating that there is no difference between the policies of the All India Trinamool Congress and Tipra Motha.

Highlighting the progress of the BJP, the Chief Minister noted that the party, established in 1980 with the involvement of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, has grown from just two MPs to leading the country under Prime Minister Modi for three consecutive terms.

He accused the long-standing Left government of corruption and emphasized the significance of the 2026 TTAADC elections, stating that the BJP will contest all 28 council seats, which he described as a historic step. For years, politics in the TTAADC has been dominated by parties that have failed to deliver meaningful development. The Communists, who once claimed electoral dominance, have now lost public support.

Saha also urged voters to ensure a decisive victory for BJP candidate Shailendra Nath in the Dasda-Kanchanpur constituency during the elections on April 12.

Addressing local issues, the Chief Minister mentioned that he has raised concerns regarding displaced Bengalis in Kanchanpur with Home Minister Shah and expressed hope for a permanent solution soon.
