Mumbai, October 8 (Daily Kiran) : Maharashtra Minister Chhagan Bhujbal paid tribute to the late actor Nana Patekar, stating that some artists never truly leave us. They continue to connect with us through their art. In a heartfelt video message, Bhujbal expressed his sorrow upon hearing the news of Patekar’s passing, saying, “My heart went numb at the news of your departure. While some may not be physically present in our lives, their work, voice, and ideas create pathways for us to remember them.”
Bhujbal highlighted Patekar’s unique achievements in both Marathi theater and Hindi cinema. He remarked on the unforgettable qualities of Patekar’s performances, including his distinctive voice, piercing gaze, and intense portrayals. “From ‘Natsamrat’ to ‘Kranti Veer,’ ‘Parinda,’ ‘Agnipankh,’ and ‘Khamoshi,’ you didn’t just act; you breathed life into your characters,” he said.
The minister noted that Patekar’s talent was recognized with numerous accolades, including National Film Awards and the Padma Shri. However, Bhujbal emphasized that the true measure of Patekar’s success lies in the respect and love he earned from the public. “Despite appearing tough on screen, your heart was always sensitive to human suffering,” he added. Patekar stood with farmers and those in need, and his work through the ‘Naam Foundation’ continues to reflect his compassionate spirit.
Acknowledging the profound loss, Bhujbal stated, “It is hard to accept that you are no longer with us. The realization that we will never hear your voice again or see you in new performances is deeply felt. But some artists never die; they connect with us through their art repeatedly.”
Minister Ramesh Tawadkar of the Goa government also expressed his condolences, stating that Patekar’s death is a significant loss for the Hindi film industry. He recalled having met Patekar several times and extended his sympathies to the actor’s family.
In closing, Bhujbal paid a heartfelt homage to Patekar, saying, “Though you may be gone, your voice, your characters, and your humanity remain with us. The respect we hold for you in our hearts will always endure. A heartfelt salute to this ‘Natsamrat.’ Rest in peace, Nana!”
