In a tragic incident late Friday night in the tribal area of Mettur, Tamil Nadu, a severe road accident resulted in the death of three young men, while another sustained serious injuries. The collision involved a cargo auto and a two-wheeler vehicle, which crashed head-on.
According to police reports, Vijayaraghavan from Mecheri was driving the cargo auto from Jalakandapuram towards the tribal region around 10 pm Tuesday. Near Papathi Kattuvalalu, the cargo auto collided violently with a two-wheeler coming from the opposite direction. The impact caused the two-wheeler riders to be thrown onto the road.
The accident claimed the lives of Mohan Kumar (19), son of Mahendran from Ramakoundanoor, and Sanjay Bharti (20), son of Subramanian, who both died on the spot. Additionally, Vimal (22), a passenger in the cargo auto, succumbed to his injuries while being taken to the hospital.
Police arrived promptly at the scene, took custody of the bodies of Mohan Kumar and Sanjay Bharti, and sent them for postmortem at Mettur Government Hospital. Another passenger, Ramakrishnan, suffered a leg fracture and has been admitted to the hospital for treatment.
Following the accident, the cargo auto driver Vijayaraghavan fled the scene. The Nangvali Police have registered a case and are actively searching for the absconding driver.
