New Delhi, May 5: A severe road accident occurred on the Kundli-Manesar-Palwal Expressway in Haryana’s Nuh district on Tuesday, resulting in the deaths of five policemen from Uttar Pradesh.
According to police reports, all five deceased officers were stationed in Jalaun district, Uttar Pradesh.
The incident took place near the Dhulawat Toll Plaza. Authorities stated that the driver of a black SUV, while attempting to overtake another vehicle, lost control and collided with a car ahead.
Following the impact, the SUV overturned and was severely damaged, trapping the occupants inside.
Shish Ram Yadav, the officer in charge of Tauru Sadar police station, confirmed, “All the deceased were personnel of the Uttar Pradesh police, stationed in Jalaun. We have informed the Jalaun SP.”
Investigations into the causes of the accident have commenced.
A patrol officer on the expressway reported that the loud crash and ensuing cloud of dust caused panic among motorists. Other vehicles quickly braked, halting traffic for a period.
An eyewitness noted that rescue teams and ambulances faced significant challenges in extracting the bodies from the SUV.
Police identified the victims through identification documents found in the vehicle. One officer’s ID card revealed his identity as Sub-Inspector Mohit Kumar Yadav, prompting contact with the Uttar Pradesh police.
Authorities later used a crane to remove the wrecked SUV from the expressway, allowing traffic to resume normal flow.
