Raipur, May 9: A devastating car-motorcycle collision near Khairdih village in Balod district has resulted in the deaths of three young men. The crash was so severe that two victims died at the scene, while the third succumbed to injuries later in the hospital.
According to police officials, the accident occurred around 10 PM when a speeding car traveling from Dalli Rajhara to Rajnandgaon collided head-on with the motorcycle carrying three friends heading towards Dondi-Dondilohara.
The impact of the collision was catastrophic, leaving both vehicles completely wrecked and the motorcycle riders severely injured.
Following the accident, chaos and panic engulfed the road, with debris scattered everywhere.
The deceased have been identified as 20-year-old Tarun Yadav and 20-year-old Rahul Sevta, both residents of Sirrabhatha, and 21-year-old Narendra Bhuwaria from Mudkhusra.
Police reported that Tarun and Narendra died instantly, while Rahul was rushed to the hospital in critical condition but later passed away. The severity of the crash was highlighted by the fact that Rahul’s leg was found severed from his body a few meters away from the accident site the following morning.
Local police from Dondi-Dondilohara station quickly arrived at the scene, recovered the bodies, and sent them for post-mortem examinations.
To ensure smooth traffic flow, the damaged vehicles were cleared from the road.
Preliminary investigations suggest that excessive speed and reckless driving were the primary causes of the accident. Authorities are also looking into whether the driver was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident.
This tragedy has cast a pall of grief over the victims’ villages, with families in shock and residents expressing deep concerns about road safety.
The police have assured that a thorough investigation is underway, and those responsible will face justice once the inquiry is complete.
