Kota, February 13: A heartbreaking incident has emerged from the Digod police station area in Kota district, where a 16-year-old girl allegedly took her own life just days before her board exams. This tragedy occurred on Thursday morning in the village of Kakrawada, leaving the local community in shock.

The deceased student was scheduled to sit for her tenth-grade board exams on Thursday.

According to family members, she had not attended school for the past one and a half to two months, and her interest in studies had gradually declined. Her father mentioned that she had repeatedly expressed reluctance to continue her studies. He added that he had encouraged her to at least take the exams, assuring her that the results were not a cause for concern.

Both parents work at a hostel in Kota and left home for work around 7 AM on Thursday. Later that day, they received a call from the village informing them that their daughter had been found hanging in their home.

The family rushed back, brought her down, and took her to Anta Hospital for treatment. Given her critical condition, she was referred to the New Medical College Hospital in Kota, where she tragically passed away later that night during treatment.

Police officials have confirmed that a case has been registered, and an investigation is underway.

Assistant Sub-Inspector Yogesh from the Digod police station stated that initial information suggests the student may have been under academic pressure. However, he emphasized that all aspects are being thoroughly investigated. Statements from family members and villagers are being recorded, and further legal action is in progress.

This incident has once again raised concerns about student mental health and academic stress, especially during exam periods. Authorities and experts have repeatedly urged parents, schools, and society to be sensitive to students’ emotional well-being and to promote open dialogue and support systems.

The police have appealed to the public to share any relevant information regarding the case and assured that a comprehensive investigation will be conducted.
