Tragic Incident in Madhya Pradesh: Three Young Men Drown in Mine Pit

Bhopal, April 25: A tragic incident occurred in Sagar district of Madhya Pradesh, where three young men drowned in a stone crusher mine pit while attempting to rescue a friend who was struggling in the water.

The incident has cast a pall of grief over the entire area. So far, one body has been recovered, while search efforts continue for the other two.

According to officials from the Baheriya police station, the incident took place around noon when four friends went swimming in the mine’s water.

Eyewitness Shiva Valmiki reported that one of the young men, Tanis Kori, began to drown. In an attempt to save him, his friends Abhishek, also known as Adda, and Tejram Patel jumped into the water, but all three became trapped in the deep water and drowned. Another friend, Ayush, also tried to help but was pulled out just in time; otherwise, he too could have drowned.

By the time help arrived, all three had already submerged. The police reached the scene promptly and deployed the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) for rescue operations.

The SDRF team continued the search until late at night, recovering Abhishek’s body, while efforts to locate Tanis and Tejram are still ongoing.

Chief Minister Mohan Yadav expressed deep sorrow over the incident, calling it extremely tragic. He extended condolences to the families of the deceased and announced financial assistance of ₹400,000 for each family.

He instructed the administration to provide immediate support and prayed for the strength of the families to endure this sorrow.

Local MLA Pradeep Laria also visited the site to assess the situation and assured the families of all possible assistance.

This incident highlights the dangers posed by abandoned mine pits, where young people often swim during the summer, unaware of the deep and risky waters.

In Guda village, the atmosphere is one of mourning, as rescue teams continue their search for the remaining two young men to provide timely information to their families.
