Mysuru, March 9: In a shocking incident in KR Pete town of Mandya district, a couple allegedly attempted to strangle their two-year-old child before taking their own lives on Monday. Fortunately, the child survived and is currently receiving treatment in a hospital.
The deceased have been identified as Darshan and Divyashree, residents of Hosakote village. The couple had been married for about three years and lived in a rented house in the Jayanagar area of KR Pete with their two-year-old child.
Authorities have yet to determine the exact reasons behind this tragic decision. Initial reports suggest that ongoing family disputes may have contributed to their actions. It is reported that the couple attempted to kill their child, believing he had died after becoming unconscious. Subsequently, they took their own lives by hanging themselves inside their home.
Miraculously, after the couple’s death, the child began to breathe again, which relatives have described as a miracle. The child was later taken to the hospital for treatment.
This heartbreaking event has left both families devastated, with relatives expressing sorrow while also feeling relief over the child’s survival.
The incident falls under the jurisdiction of the KR Pete Town police station. A case has been registered, and further investigations are ongoing.
It is worth noting that this incident follows a similar case from November 1, 2025, in Mysuru district, where a woman allegedly killed her two children before committing suicide. In that case, 20-year-old Arabiya Bhanu reportedly strangled her one-and-a-half-year-old daughter and a ten-day-old baby girl before taking her own life. Initial investigations revealed that her husband worked in a mall in Bengaluru while she remained at home with the children.
In another disturbing case, a couple allegedly murdered their two minor children, after which the husband committed suicide on September 14, 2025, in the outskirts of Bengaluru. Reports indicate that the wife also attempted suicide but was saved by neighbors. The deceased were identified as Shiv Kumar, also known as Shivu, his 11-year-old daughter Chandrakala, and 7-year-old son Uday Surya. Shivu’s 30-year-old wife, Manjula, has been taken into police custody for further investigation. The family resided in Gonakanahalli village in Bengaluru Rural district.
