Tragic Incident at Bargi Dam: Army Divers Recover Five Bodies

New Delhi, May 1: A tragic incident occurred at Bargi Dam in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, on April 30. Strong winds caused a cruise to capsize, leading to several passengers falling into the water. Following the incident, army divers took charge at the scene. So far, they have recovered five bodies, while the search for other missing individuals continues. Local administration, police, disaster management teams, and other agencies are collaborating in the rescue efforts.

The incident took place near Khamaria Island, where passengers were enjoying the natural beauty. Suddenly, the weather turned severe, and strong gusts disrupted the cruise’s balance, resulting in the accident. Chaos ensued as the cruise overturned, throwing passengers into the water. Recognizing the seriousness of the situation, the district administration promptly initiated relief and rescue operations. The Indian Army was also called in to help manage the situation.

According to the army, special diving teams were dispatched overnight from Agra at the request of the administration. These trained divers are currently conducting operations to locate the missing individuals. The administration has heightened vigilance in surrounding areas and urged people to avoid approaching water bodies during adverse weather conditions.

An investigation into the causes of the accident has also begun to prevent similar incidents in the future. Currently, the army’s rescue operation in the Bargi Dam area is ongoing, with divers making every effort to find the missing persons.

The devastating accident occurred on Thursday evening at Bargi Dam in Jabalpur. Many tourists remain unaccounted for, and the search operation is still underway. The storm intensified during the tragedy, creating waves that destabilized the cruise. Within moments, the cruise capsized, leaving around 30 tourists trapped in the deep waters of the dam. Rescue operations commenced immediately after the incident. A special team from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) arrived at the scene to conduct search operations under extremely challenging conditions.
