Tragic Fire in Ghaziabad Claims Life of Elderly Man

Ghaziabad, May 9: A devastating fire broke out in Patel Nagar, Ghaziabad, early Saturday morning. Around 3 AM, a sudden blaze engulfed a three-story air conditioning service center. The fire rapidly spread throughout the building, causing chaos in the vicinity. Explosions from gas cylinders and compressors stored inside the service center added to the panic.

The fire was so intense that it posed a risk of spreading to nearby residential buildings. Tragically, an 80-year-old man died from smoke inhalation, and several vehicles were reduced to ashes. According to reports, the Ghaziabad Commissionerate received a call at 3:05 AM on May 9, 2026, alerting them to the fire at plot number F-87 in Patel Nagar.

Immediately, fire officials and fire engines were dispatched from the local fire station. Upon arrival, they found the fire had fully engulfed the three-story building, with gas cylinders and compressors continuously exploding. The thick black smoke and fierce flames created a terrifying scene for the local residents.

Given the severity of the situation, additional fire engines were summoned from Vaishali, Sahibabad, and Modinagar. Under the leadership of the chief fire officer, teams deployed four hoses to combat the blaze. The dense smoke and ongoing explosions made rescue operations extremely challenging. Firefighters had to wear breathing apparatus to enter the building.

After several hours of intense effort, the fire was finally brought under control with the help of eight fire engines. During a search operation conducted by the fire department, an elderly man was found dead on the ground floor. He was identified as Triloki Nath, aged 80. Preliminary investigations suggest that he died from smoke inhalation.

The incident also resulted in the destruction of two cars and approximately ten motorcycles. Currently, police and fire officials are investigating the cause of the fire, with initial suspicions pointing towards a short circuit or a gas cylinder leak.
