Moti Hari, May 9: A devastating fire broke out late Friday night at a two-story wholesale general store in Barharwa Fateh Mohammad village, located in the East Champaran district of Bihar. The incident resulted in the tragic deaths of three individuals, including two children.
Witnesses reported that the fire spread rapidly, engulfing the entire building and incinerating all the goods inside. The victims have been identified as Rudra Kumar and his sister Shrishti, children of the store owner Rajkumar Sah, along with store staff member Prince Kumar.
The fire erupted shortly after midnight, causing panic among the villagers. Upon receiving news of the blaze, locals rushed to the scene to attempt to extinguish the flames, but the fire continued to spread uncontrollably. Fire department teams and police arrived shortly after to assist. The firefighters worked diligently to bring the fire under control, which they managed to do by 8 AM Saturday.
Initial investigations suggest that a short circuit may have caused the fire. The police are currently conducting an inquiry into the incident. It has been reported that the store contained a large quantity of groceries and other items, all of which were completely destroyed. The atmosphere in the area remains somber and chaotic following the tragedy.
The administration is actively investigating the situation and assessing the damage. Uday Shankar, the Sikrahna DSP, confirmed on Saturday that the fire occurred in a two-story shop and that efforts to control it were successful. The loss caused by the fire is currently being evaluated.
