Tragic Explosion in Delhis Johri Pur Claims Childs Life, Another Severely Injured

New Delhi, May 3: A tragic incident shook the Johri Pur area of Delhi on Saturday. An explosion in an air conditioner on the second floor of a house in a lane near Kardam Marriage Home resulted in severe injuries to two young children. One child died on the spot, while the other is battling for life in critical condition. The injured child has been admitted to Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital, where treatment is ongoing.

At the time of the incident, the children’s parents were at work. Both children were left in the care of their grandmother at home. The explosion caused a fire and a loud bang, engulfing the room and affecting the children. Neighbors rushed to the scene upon hearing the commotion, rescuing the children and alerting the police and fire department.

The local community is in mourning following the incident. Residents have expressed concerns that such accidents are increasing due to the lack of regular checks on air conditioning and electrical appliances during the hot season. The police are currently investigating the case.

Delhi Police reported that they received information about the fire at Gokalpuri Police Station. Upon arrival at the scene near Kardam Dharmshala, they discovered that the two children, aged five and four, had been left alone in a room on the second floor while their parents were at work. Around 3:15 PM, the children’s grandmother noticed smoke coming from the room and found both children injured upon reaching there.

Family members quickly took them to GTB Hospital, where doctors pronounced the four-year-old dead. The other child’s treatment is ongoing. A forensic team has inspected the site and collected evidence. Necessary actions have been initiated under Section 194 BNSSS at Gokalpuri Police Station, and further investigations are underway.
