Tragic Bus Accident in Ramban Claims Life of Injured Woman

Ramban, October 3 (Daily Kiran) : A tragic bus accident occurred in Ramban district of Jammu and Kashmir, claiming the life of a woman who had been injured in the incident. The accident took place on Thursday when a sleeper bus, traveling from Srinagar to Jammu, overturned on the National Highway. Several passengers were injured in the crash.

On Saturday, the injured woman succumbed to her injuries, prompting expressions of sorrow from local officials. Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha shared his condolences on social media, stating, “I am deeply saddened by the bus accident in Ramban that resulted in a loss of life. My heartfelt sympathies go out to the affected family. Those severely injured have been sent to GMC Jammu for better treatment. I have spoken with the Deputy Commissioner of Ramban regarding this matter and pray for their swift recovery.”

Union Minister and Udhampur MP Dr. Jitendra Singh also addressed the incident on social media, revealing that he had spoken with Ramban’s Deputy Commissioner, Mohammad Ilyas Khan. He noted that the unfortunate road accident involved a passenger bus registered in West Bengal, which left 38 passengers injured. Singh lamented the loss of the woman and mentioned that four individuals with serious injuries were referred to GMC Jammu, while others continued to receive treatment at the district hospital. He assured that every possible assistance and medical support was being provided, and his office was in constant contact with local authorities.

According to officials, the sleeper bus, registered in West Bengal, overturned inside a tunnel near Marug on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH-44). The injured passengers were transported to the district hospital in Ramban with the help of police, the State Disaster Response Force, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), army personnel, and volunteers from the civil quick response team. Out of the injured, nine were later transferred to the Government Medical College (GMC) Hospital in Jammu for further treatment. At the time of the accident, there were 55 passengers on board the bus.
