
Hyderabad, May 1: A devastating road accident occurred on the Outer Ring Road (ORR) in the outskirts of Hyderabad on Friday, resulting in the deaths of six family members. One woman sustained serious injuries.
The incident took place near ORR Exit-16 in the Shamshabad area. According to police reports, a speeding WagonR car collided with a truck parked on the roadside. The impact was so severe that the car became lodged under the truck and was extensively damaged.
All six occupants of the car died at the scene, including two children and a woman. The injured woman was rushed to a nearby hospital in critical condition.
Emergency services arrived after receiving alerts from passersby and began rescue operations. It took considerable effort for the rescue team to extract the bodies from the wreckage. A crane was utilized to remove the car trapped beneath the truck.
The deceased have been sent to Osmania General Hospital for post-mortem examinations. Reports indicate that the victims were residents of the Rajanna Sircilla district in Telangana and lived in the Sanathnagar area of Hyderabad. They were returning from a visit to the Yadadri temple when the accident occurred.
An eyewitness reported that they pulled a woman from the car who was screaming for help, and she was subsequently transported to the hospital by ambulance.
Chevella’s Deputy Commissioner of Police, Yogesh Gautam, along with other senior officials, arrived at the scene. An investigation has been initiated by the police.
Preliminary inquiries suggest that the driver may have dozed off, leading to the tragic accident.
The 158-kilometer-long Outer Ring Road has been notorious for fatal accidents in recent years, with over 375 lives lost in the past five years alone.
