Tragic Accident Claims Life of 7-Year-Old in Pune Elevator Mishap

Pune, May 20: A heartbreaking incident occurred in Pune, Maharashtra, where a 7-year-old boy, Shivansh Shailesh Dhoot, tragically lost his life after becoming trapped in an elevator while playing. The incident took place at the Riddhi Siddhi Apartment on Sinhagad Road around 10:30 PM on Monday night.

Senior Police Inspector Vinay Patankar from Sinhagad Police Station reported that Shivansh became stuck between the elevator doors, leading to his untimely death. The police have registered an accidental death case, and initial investigations revealed no technical faults with the elevator. Further inquiries are ongoing.

Upon receiving news of the incident, authorities were alerted, and a firefighting team arrived to rescue the child. Unfortunately, it was too late to save him. The community is now engulfed in sorrow following this tragic event.

Reports indicate that Shivansh was playing with other children in the society when he accidentally entered the elevator and pressed a button, resulting in the fatal accident. When he was missing for an extended period, his family grew concerned and began searching for him. Tragically, he was found wedged between the elevator doors, leaving his family and neighbors in shock.

The police were immediately notified, and with the help of the community, they managed to retrieve the child’s body from the elevator. Initial investigations have not indicated any foul play or other causes. It is reported that the elevator maintenance is the responsibility of the society management.
