Farrukhabad, March 7: A tragic incident has occurred in Farrukhabad, Uttar Pradesh, where a 16-year-old boy lost his life after coming into contact with high-tension wires during a Bhagwat Katha procession.
The procession was taking place in the village of Sirauli on Saturday. The young boy was leading the procession while carrying a bamboo flag. Unfortunately, the bamboo came into contact with high-tension wires, resulting in a severe electric shock that left him critically injured.
Family members rushed the boy to a private nursing home. Due to his critical condition, he was referred to the EMO District Hospital in Lohia. However, upon arrival at the hospital’s emergency department, doctors declared him dead after examination.
Local resident Subodh shared that the Bhagwat Katha was being inaugurated in their village. Before the event, a procession was organized. The boy, Akhilesh Prajapati, was carrying a flag on a green bamboo stick at the front of the procession.
As they approached the temple, the upper part of the bamboo touched the high-tension line. The bamboo, being green, conducted electricity, leading to Akhilesh receiving the shock. He was immediately taken to a private nursing home and later brought to Lohia Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The news of the boy’s death plunged his family into grief, and a somber silence fell over the village, turning the auspicious occasion of the Bhagwat Katha into a moment of mourning.
Subodh mentioned that he had recently built a new house near a temple, where the idol consecration was taking place, coinciding with the Bhagwat Katha event. The deceased’s father, Mukesh Prajapati, and mother, Narayan Devi Prajapati, work outside the village.
Akhilesh was living with his uncle and was the second of two brothers. He was a 12th-grade student, currently preparing for his exams, and was known for his academic excellence.
Dr. Abhishek Chaturvedi from EMO District Hospital confirmed that a 16-year-old named Akhilesh Prajapati was brought in, but unfortunately, he was declared dead after examination. The police have been notified for a post-mortem.
