Traffic Advisory Issued for High-Level Summit Rehearsal in New Delhi

New Delhi, May 19: The Delhi Traffic Police has announced a traffic advisory in anticipation of a high-level summit rehearsal scheduled for Wednesday at the Bharat Mandapam.

Authorities have warned travelers that from 11 AM to 3 PM, several key roads in the capital will experience traffic restrictions, diversions, and controlled movement.

This rehearsal is part of the preparations for the upcoming International Big Cat Alliance Summit and the India-Africa Forum Summit, both set to take place at Bharat Mandapam from May 28 to June 1.

Travelers are advised to plan their journeys in advance and consider alternative routes to avoid inconvenience during the rehearsal.

The police specifically recommend using the Ring Road and Vande Mataram Marg, which will remain open in both directions during the rehearsal.

Passengers traveling from North to South Delhi are advised to use the Ring Road via Rajghat and Sarai Kale Khan for a smoother journey.

Similarly, those traveling between West and South Delhi should take the Ring Road through Dhaula Kuan, Motibagh, and Bhikaji Cama Place to avoid congestion in restricted areas.

Travelers moving between East and South Delhi are encouraged to utilize the Ring Road via Sarai Kale Khan and the Barapulla-Ashram Chowk corridor, which is expected to remain operational during the traffic restrictions.

The advisory also clarifies that the NH-8 corridor and Gurugram Road passing through Dhaula Kuan will remain open for passengers heading to the airport, minimizing disruptions for air travel.

According to the traffic police, entry into New Delhi district during the rehearsal will only be possible via the Ring Road and Vande Mataram Marg. Major roads like SP Marg and Mathura Road may be affected or temporarily closed based on traffic conditions.

Travelers heading from Tilak Marg’s W-point to Connaught Place are advised to avoid affected routes and use Sikandra Road or DDU Marg instead.

The advisory states that the outer circle of Rajiv Chowk and the Connaught Place area will be accessible via Parliament Road, Baba Kharak Singh Marg, and Barakhamba Road.

Individuals traveling to Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital are advised to use Sheikh Abdul Rahman Marg to avoid traffic restrictions.

Likewise, those heading to the Supreme Court, Delhi High Court, and Patiala House Court are recommended to use Tilak Marg to reach the court complexes.

Visitors to Bharat Mandapam during the rehearsal are instructed to park their vehicles at Bhairon Mandir parking and enter through gates 4 and 10 only.

The advisory also mentions that cab pick-up and drop points, as well as DTC bus stops, will operate near gates 4 and 10. App-based taxi services will also run from these designated entry points.

The traffic police encourage travelers to utilize online navigation platforms for real-time information on diversions and alternative routes.

Additionally, voice alerts will be issued on digital navigation systems to warn travelers before they reach affected routes.
