Dehradun, August 15: A tourist from Kanpur faced a challenging situation on August 14 while visiting the Badrinath pilgrimage in Uttarakhand. While exploring beyond the Vasudhara Waterfall in Chamoli district, he inadvertently crossed to the other side of the river. Suddenly, the water level surged, blocking his return route and leaving him stranded.
The incident was reported to Constable Chandan Nagarakoti by local hotelier Mandeep Bhandari. Upon receiving the information, the Shri Badrinath police and SDRF team promptly set out for the scene. Before their arrival, local youths demonstrated remarkable sensitivity and initiative by stepping in to assist the stranded tourist.
Mohit Bisht, Kishan Bisht, Nitin, Saurabh Bhandari, Anshu Bisht, Dhirendra, Sonu, and Mohit Rawat quickly gathered wood to construct a temporary bridge over the river. They also delivered food and water to the tourist, ensuring his safety until the rescue team arrived.
Within a short time, the Shri Badrinath police and SDRF rescue team reached the location. Collaborating with the local youths, they assessed the situation and safely navigated to the other side of the river. The stranded tourist was successfully rescued and brought back to safety at the Shri Badrinath police station.
The entire rescue operation highlighted the vital cooperation between the police and local residents. The swift actions of the local youth, combined with the prompt response of the police and SDRF, were crucial in ensuring the tourist’s safe return.
