Mumbai, March 8: The Indian automotive market is gearing up for an exciting year with several new SUVs and facelifts of existing models on the horizon. Among these, the much-anticipated Mahindra Scorpio-N facelift and the new Toyota Fortuner are set to steal the spotlight. Here’s a look at the top five SUVs launching this year.

If you are considering purchasing a new diesel SUV, it might be worth waiting a little longer. The Indian market is about to witness the arrival of several new models and refreshed versions of popular SUVs. This includes the Mahindra Scorpio-N facelift and the latest Toyota Fortuner. Let’s explore the top five SUVs expected to launch this year.

Mahindra Scorpio-N (Facelift)

Mahindra is preparing to launch the mid-life facelift of its popular ladder-frame SUV, the Scorpio-N. This update will feature a refreshed exterior and interior design, along with numerous new features. Highlights include a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a fully digital driver display, a panoramic sunroof, and ventilated seats. The diesel engine will remain the same, offering a 2.2-liter mHawk engine that generates 175 PS of power and 370 Nm (manual) or 400 Nm (automatic) of torque.

Mahindra Scorpio Classic (Facelift)

Even with the new Scorpio on the market, the excitement for the Scorpio Classic continues. Mahindra plans to give this popular SUV a facelift this year, featuring minor changes to its exterior and interior design. It will retain the Gen 2 mHawk 2.2-liter, 4-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine, producing 132 PS of power and 300 Nm of torque, available only with a 6-speed manual gearbox.

Toyota Fortuner (Next Generation)

Later this year, Toyota will launch the next generation of the Fortuner in India. This new SUV will showcase a bolder and more aggressive front design, featuring sleek C-shaped LED headlights, a new grille, and a striking front bumper. The side profile will maintain a similar design with new alloy wheels, while the rear will also see some updates. The SUV will be powered by the same 2.8-liter mild-hybrid diesel engine, delivering 204 PS of power and 500 Nm of torque.

Hyundai Creta (Next Generation)

Hyundai is preparing to introduce the next generation of the Creta. The new model will have a significantly more aggressive exterior and may be larger in size. It will continue to feature the existing 1.5-liter U2 CRDi diesel engine, producing 114 bhp and 250 Nm of torque. The new Creta, based on the K3 platform, is expected to launch in 2027.

MG Majestor

This SUV is set to launch in April and will feature a 2.0-liter twin-turbocharged diesel engine paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission. This engine will generate 215 PS of power and 478 Nm of torque.
