Kolkata, April 28: The Trinamool Congress (TMC) has made serious allegations against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), claiming that threats to the life of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee are being made openly.
In an official post on ‘X’, TMC stated that after spreading threats of sexual violence and derogatory cartoons, the BJP has now stooped to openly threatening to kill Banerjee. The party highlighted a post by BJP spokesperson Ajay Alok, which read, “If you try to scare us, you will be shot,” indicating a blatant call for violence.
TMC described this as extremely offensive and dangerous behavior towards a three-time elected Chief Minister. The party also raised concerns about the Election Commission’s silence on the matter.
According to TMC, the BJP aims to bring the violent political culture of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar to Bengal, promoting a culture of intimidation and threats that they believe is backed by the BJP’s top leadership.
The party warned that if such language is used against a female Chief Minister, it raises serious concerns about the safety of ordinary women and daughters in the state.
TMC emphasized that Bengal does not forget or forgive such actions. They promised that the response to this insult and threat will not be verbal but will be expressed through votes. Referring to the upcoming elections on May 4, the party asserted that Bengal will raise its voice on that day.
