
New Delhi, April 7: The 19th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) kicked off on March 28. Here’s a look at the six umpires who have officiated the most matches in the league’s history.
Anil Chaudhary holds the record for the most matches umpired in IPL history, having officiated a total of 131 matches. The Indian-origin umpire has been part of the IPL since 2012.
Sundaram Ravi shares the top spot with Chaudhary, also having umpired 131 matches. Ravi made his IPL debut in 2009 and officiated his last match in 2021.
Nitin Menon ranks second in the list, having officiated 113 IPL matches. He made his IPL debut in 2016.
Former Sri Lankan cricketer Kumar Dharmasena is third, having officiated 100 matches since his IPL debut in 2009.
Chettithody Shamshuddin occupies the fourth position, with 89 matches officiated since he started in 2012.
New Zealand’s Chris Gaffaney rounds out the list in fifth place, having officiated 83 matches since his IPL debut in 2015.
