“The Kashmir Files” crosses Rs.250 crore mark

New Delhi, April 12 : ‘The Kashmir Files’ has heavily surpassed expectations. While the Vivek Agnihotri film may not have been the most ideal candidate for a blockbuster given the norm with Hindi cinema, the movie has become the first Hindi film in the pandemic era to surpass the Rs 250 crore mark. Film trade analyst Taran Adarsh shared the box office figures of ‘The Kashmir Files’ and wrote, “#TheKashmirFiles is the first #Hindi film to cross ₹ 250 cr [post pandemic]… Absence of notable film/s this weekend helped biz grow on [fifth] Sat and Sun, despite limited shows and screens… [Week 5] Fri 50 lacs, Sat 85 lacs, Sun 1.15 cr. Total: ₹ 250.73 cr. #India biz.” Made on a budget of just 15 crore, the movie is just a day short marking its monthly release and has not shown much signs of dying down. ‘The Kashmir Files’ for its highly impressive earnings however, is facing tough competition from SS Rajamouli’s Telugu mega-budget grand spectacle ‘RRR’ which has with its stellar star cast, high octane stunts, and special effects managed to cross the Rs 1000 crore mark at the worldwide box office in a just few weeks of its release. RRR is the third Indian film to enter the Rs 1000 crore club. Other Indian movies that are already a part of the prestigious club include ‘Baahubali 2: The Conclusion’ and Aamir Khan’s sports drama ‘Dangal’. Marking other projects, Vivek Agnihotri shared a video and made an official announcement. Sharing the announcement he also wished Abhishek Agarwal a happy birthday and wrote, “A very happy birthday to Tiger Producer @abhishekofficl Gives me great pleasure to announce a new collaboration between @AAArtsOfficial & @i_ambuddha. Love. Always.” Abhishek Agarwal, Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri, and Pallavi Joshi will produce the two movies, which will be under ‘The Kashmir Files’ trilogy, with Tej Narayan Agarwal set to present them.
