Tharoor demands ‘India colours’ for Umran Malik

New Delhi, April 17 : Sunrisers Hyderabad young pacer Umran Malik caught Congress MP Shashi Tharoors’s attention with his bowling prowess against Punjab Kings (PBKS) during the Indian Premier League match on Sunday. The 22-year-old fast bowler from Jammu and Kashmir, who has been the talk of the town for his sheer pace, became the first bowler in the IPL 2022 season to deliver a maiden 20th over. Umran claimed three wickets and Nicholas Pooran did one run-out in the 20th over to skittle out PBKS for a total of 151. He returned with a figure of 4/28 and was adjudged Player of the Match. Impressed by Umran’s bowling, Tharoor demanded “Indian colours” for the youngster. “We need him in India colours asap. What a phenomenal talent. Blood him before he burns out! Take him to England for the Test match greentop. He and Bumrah bowling in tandem will terrify the Angrez!” Tharoor tweeted. Former India cricketers Harbhajan Singh and Venkatesh Prasad also hailed the youngster for his scintillating bowling effort. “This last over by Umran Malik was surreal. A maiden with 3 wickets and a run-out. Stuffs of dream! What a tournament Umran is having in IPL 2022. Blue jersey coming soon,” tweeted Harbhajan. Prasad said: “A triple wicket maiden for a final over is an outstanding effort from young Umran Malik. Skills and raw pace and great execution is gold stuff.” SRH chased down the 152-run target with eight balls left to register their fourth win in a row after losing the first two games of the season.
