Shivamogga, March 9 : Tension prevailed in a college in the district on Wednesday after a girl student posted a picture of the Pakistan flag in a study group on WhatsApp during a heated debate over hijab row. On Tuesday, students of Sahyadri Science College staged a protest over the issue and demanded action against the girl student. They are demanding a sedition case against the girl student and her dismissal from the college. The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) also joined the protest. The girl student had posted a Pakistani flag in the WhatsApp group in response to one of the students posting an Indian flag in a heated debate over hijab. The protesting students have submitted a memorandum to versity authorities and it has promised to take suitable action against the girl student. The college authorities are seeking legal opinion on the issue. Shivamogga has witnessed largscale violence after the murder of a Hindu activist Harsha. BDN SY 1617
