Fatehpur, Aug 11 (H.S.) – Tension gripped Uttar Pradesh’s Fatehpur district on Monday after youths from Hindu organisations hoisted a saffron flag atop a 200-year-old historical mausoleum in Abunagar Redaiya, claiming it to be a Thakurji temple. Protesters also damaged structures at the site, leading to unrest in the area.

Following the incident, administrative officials and a large contingent of police forces were deployed on the spot. The gathering was reportedly organised on the call of Vishwa Hindu Parishad, Bajrang Dal and BJP leaders.
A large crowd broke through three layers of police barricades set up within a three-kilometre radius of the mausoleum and reached the site. Carrying saffron flags, the youths created a commotion and hoisted the flag atop the mausoleum. Several mazars at the site were also damaged.
According to reports, when members of the Muslim community protested the act, clashes and stone-pelting ensued. Police intervened, removed the saffron flag from the mausoleum and attempted to calm the situation. Both sides raised slogans at the site, while senior district officials and heavy police deployment remained present to prevent further escalation.
The situation in the area remains tense. No official statement on the incident has been issued yet.
