Telangana Govt to establish Green Field Mega Dairy plant

Hyderabad, March 10 : Telangana Minister for Animal Husbandry and Dairy Development Talasani Srinivas Yadav informed the Assembly that, as part of the expansion and to improve Vijaya Dairy, the government will set up a Green Field Mega Dairy Plant at Maheshwaram Mandal of Rangareddy District under DIDF ( Dairy Processing & Infrastructure Development Fund) scheme with an outlay of Rs 246.26 crore. Replying to a question raised by the members in the house during question hour, Srinivas Yadav said the project is under process and the plant capacity is 5 lakh liters per day against the expandable capacity to process of 8 lakh liters per day. The present milk production in the state is 162.68 lakh liters per day, the Minister said the state government introduced Milch Animals Distribution Scheme to benefit 2.13 lakh members of four co- operative dairies in the state. The scheme involves a subsidy of 75 per cent to SC and ST Dairy farmers and 50 per cent to the other beneficiaries, he said. The government is providing Rs 4 cash incentive per liter to the dairy farmers for supplying milk to the four co-operative dairies, the Minister added. It may be mentioned here that Srinivas Yadav, Minister for Education P. Sabitha Indra Reddy and Chairman of Dairy Development Cooperative Federation L. Bhuma Reddy laid the foundation stone for the construction of a mega dairy project on 32 acres land at Raviryala village of Maheshwaram mandal in September last year. KNR CS1615
