Hyderabad, July 1: Telangana BJP leader and social activist Madhavi Lata has clinched a gold medal at the 12th Telangana State Shooting Championship.
The competition, held at the SATS Shooting Range in Gachibowli, saw Madhavi excel in the 25-meter pistol (Masters Women) event, scoring 245 out of 300 points to secure first place.
Reflecting on her inspiration to take up shooting, Madhavi recalled her days as an NCC cadet. She stated, “During Republic Day training in my childhood, we practiced rifle shooting, which sparked my interest in this sport.”
Madhavi Lata previously contested for the Hyderabad seat as a BJP candidate in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. She emphasized that her return to the shooting range is motivated by the belief that public representatives should set an example for society.
“A politician should be courageous and involved in sports to inspire others. I asked myself, why should age be a barrier? If your mind is ready, you can achieve anything,” she remarked.
She credited her coach, Prasanna, for her success. Despite suffering from a shoulder injury, she is diligently preparing for upcoming competitions, focusing on special training for the pre-national championship scheduled in the next two months.
“Despite my shoulder injury, I am currently training in the gym for the pre-national championship. I want to show that determination can overcome any obstacle,” she added.
In a message shared on social media, Madhavi Lata expressed that this gold medal is not just her achievement. She wrote, “This belongs to everyone who believed in me, encouraged me, prayed for me, and celebrated every step of my journey. To every woman chasing her dreams, I say, don’t let anyone define your limits. Trust yourself, work hard, and always set high goals.”
