Pune, February 16: Manishankar Aiyar’s claims regarding the return of Pinarayi Vijayan’s government in Kerala have stirred political discussions. Political analyst Tehseen Poonawalla responded sharply, suggesting that the Congress party should thank Aiyar, as his predictions have consistently been proven wrong.
Poonawalla stated, “Manishankar Aiyar is the national equivalent of Sanjay Raut, just as Raut is to Maharashtra. The Congress should send him flowers to express gratitude, as everything Aiyar has predicted has turned out to be the opposite. He claimed Narendra Modi would not become Prime Minister, yet he has been elected three times in a row. Aiyar also asserted that the BJP would not win in Gujarat, but Congress faced a crushing defeat instead. Thus, whatever Aiyar says, the opposite happens.”
He further criticized Aiyar, remarking, “Aiyar is a leader who has lost elections even when Congress swept the polls. Despite this, he was made a minister. In 2014, the party placed fourth in Tamil Nadu. Therefore, the Congress should indeed thank him.”
Poonawalla also praised the central government during the ‘India AI Impact Summit 2026.’ He emphasized that AI represents the future, with the potential to enhance science and humanity, and India could play a significant role.
In an interview, he extended his best wishes to all stakeholders, the Indian government, and the Prime Minister for the AI summit commencing in Delhi. He suggested that discussions should address the potential for crime in the digital age, emphasizing that images of any girl in India could be manipulated from anywhere, including the U.S. He urged for global regulations to be established to prevent such issues.
Regarding the commendation of India’s ‘Operation Sindoor’ by Admiral Samuel J. Paparo of the U.S. Indo-Pacific Command, Poonawalla stated, “This recognition should not only go to the Indian Army but also to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who asserted, ‘If bullets come, we will respond with bullets.’”
He added, “Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif admitted that India intended to attack after the Fajr prayer. However, BrahMos missiles completely destroyed the Noor Khan base. The Pakistani DGMO even called his Indian counterpart to plead for mercy and surrender.”
Responding to Rahul Gandhi’s statements being labeled false, Poonawalla reacted to Home Minister Amit Shah’s comments, saying, “Home Minister, if opposition leaders are spreading lies, you should speak the truth. When asked if we are buying oil from Russia under a trade deal, your foreign minister deflects the question. This is a game of passing the buck, while questioning the opposition leader.”
He insisted that the government must provide clear answers regarding deals with the U.S.
On TMC MP Sagarika Ghosh’s comments about the leadership of the ‘India Alliance,’ Poonawalla remarked, “Ghosh has just been sent to the Rajya Sabha from West Bengal, and with elections approaching, she will make such statements. However, I would like to suggest that she ask Abhishek Banerjee to propose a vote on the agenda during the next ‘India’ alliance meeting.”
