Technical Glitches Disrupt CUET-UG 2026 Exams, Causing Student Distress

New Delhi, May 30: The CUET-UG 2026 exams faced significant disruptions on Friday due to technical issues at several examination centers, including Sarita Vihar in Delhi and Lucknow in Uttar Pradesh. The exam, scheduled to start at 9 AM, experienced a delay of nearly two hours, with the afternoon session, initially set for 3 PM, commencing around 4 PM. This caused considerable distress among students and their parents, with some unable to complete their exams due to the technical failures.

Outside the examination center in Sarita Vihar, a large number of parents gathered, visibly anxious about their children’s exams. One parent reported that the exam was supposed to start at 9 AM but was delayed until approximately 11:20 AM due to server issues. However, they noted that the situation improved later, allowing the exam to proceed smoothly.

Students in Lucknow encountered similar problems. One student mentioned arriving at the center by 7 AM, only to find the gates closed at 8:30 AM. Although the exam was meant to begin at 9 AM, it was delayed until around 11 or 11:30 AM due to technical difficulties. Another student stated that they were informed of the delays but were reassured that there were no major disruptions.

At the Noida Sector 64 examination center, students expressed their frustration, leading to a protest. One student, Vishwajeet, noted that nearly all students arrived on time, yet the exam did not commence. They were left without clear information for hours, and exam invigilators failed to provide satisfactory updates. Eventually, they were told that the exam would not take place, prompting some students to protest. They were reportedly threatened and dispersed, only to later receive a notification from the NTA stating that the exam had been delayed.

In response to the situation, the National Testing Agency (NTA) released a statement expressing regret over the inconvenience caused to some CUET-UG 2026 candidates due to the technical disruptions. The NTA clarified that candidates who had completed biometric registration and were present at their centers on May 30 but could not finish their exams due to these issues would be given another opportunity to take the exam.
