New Delhi, May 13: The newly formed government in Tamil Nadu, led by Joseph Vijay, is yet to prove its majority. In this context, BJP leader Syed Shahnawaz Hussain stated that the government must demonstrate its majority to ensure its longevity.
In an interview, Hussain remarked, “While a government has been established in Tamil Nadu, it has not yet proven its majority. Any government operates on the basis of majority, and this must be demonstrated as soon as possible. Since this has not been established yet, the government needs to prove its majority to remain in power for the long term.”
It’s noteworthy that the TVK secured only 108 out of 234 seats in the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. Consequently, Joseph Vijay formed the government with the support of Congress and local parties.
Hussain also responded to comments made by the Leader of the Opposition in the Tamil Nadu Assembly, Udhayanidhi Stalin, regarding Sanatan Dharma. He stated, “Udhayanidhi Stalin has previously spoken against Sanatan Dharma multiple times and faced significant backlash. Even after such a major defeat, he has not refrained from making controversial statements.”
He added, “Since becoming the opposition leader, Udhayanidhi Stalin has made another unfortunate remark, suggesting the end of Sanatan. Such statements are completely regrettable. A political party should refrain from making such comments, as they incite anger against the DMK across the country.”
Meanwhile, in response to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s appeal to citizens, Hussain said, “The government is urging everyone to carpool and use the metro. We have also taken steps in this direction. The convoys of our state government officials, including the Chief Minister and ministers, will be reduced in size. For security reasons, only essential vehicles will be retained. Additionally, various measures are being implemented.”
