T20 World Cup: Indias Headache with Poor Form of Three Key Players

New Delhi, March 6: Team India has secured its place in the final of the T20 World Cup 2026. The Indian team triumphed over England by 7 runs in the second semifinal match held on Thursday. This marks the fourth time and the second consecutive occasion that India has reached the finals. However, the poor form of Abhishek Sharma, Varun Chakravarthy, and Arshdeep Singh has become a significant concern for the team.

In the semifinal against England, Varun conceded 64 runs in his 4-over spell, managing to take only one wicket. He had also been expensive in the must-win match against the West Indies, giving away 40 runs in 4 overs while claiming just one wicket.

Varun’s struggles continued in the Super-8 round against South Africa, where he allowed 47 runs in his 4 overs. His recent performances have been disappointing, particularly in crucial matches against strong teams.

For Abhishek Sharma, the T20 World Cup 2026 has been a nightmare. Across 7 innings, he has scored only 89 runs. In the group stage, he failed to open his account in three matches. During the Super-8 round against South Africa, he managed just 15 runs. Although he scored a solid 55 runs off 30 balls against Zimbabwe, his form dipped again in subsequent matches against the West Indies and England, where he remained silent with the bat.

Arshdeep Singh’s recent performance has also raised concerns for the Indian team ahead of the final. In the semifinal against England, he conceded 51 runs in his 4 overs without taking a wicket. Similarly, in the crucial match against the West Indies, the left-arm fast bowler gave away 43 runs without claiming any wickets. With India relying on five main bowlers in the T20 World Cup 2026, Arshdeep’s poor form is complicating the team’s strategy.
