T20 World Cup Final: High-Scoring Showdown Expected

Mumbai, March 7: The final match between India and England at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium showcased a run fest, with a total of 499 runs scored. A similar high-scoring spectacle is anticipated in the T20 World Cup final on Sunday, where India will face New Zealand at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium.

According to a report by ESPN Cricinfo, the final match is expected to see scores around the 200-run mark. Initially, it was believed that the green pitch would favor fast bowlers, but the semi-final revealed a different scenario. The ball came onto the bat nicely, allowing batsmen to score freely.

In India’s bowling attack, Jasprit Bumrah stood out, maintaining pressure with his precise line and length. Other bowlers struggled to contain runs, with Varun Chakravarthy conceding 64 runs in four overs and Axar Patel giving away 35 runs in three overs.

The final will be played on a center pitch, which features a mix of red and black soil. So far, only one match has been played on this pitch during the tournament. On February 9, South Africa defeated Canada by 53 runs, scoring 213 runs while batting first.

India has played two matches at Narendra Modi Stadium in this tournament. They won against the Netherlands by 17 runs in the group stage but faced defeat against South Africa in the Super-8 phase.

Historically, India has struggled against New Zealand in T20 World Cups. The two teams have met three times, with New Zealand winning all encounters. This time, India has a chance to rewrite history and create a new legacy. Notably, no team has won consecutive T20 World Cups, and India has the opportunity to achieve this feat.
