Mumbai, May 7: The fourth season of the T20 Mumbai League and the inaugural season of the T20 Mumbai Women’s League will take place from June 1 to 13 at Wankhede Stadium. The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) made this announcement on Thursday. Both men’s and women’s tournaments will be held simultaneously.
MCA President Ajinkya Naik stated, “The T20 Mumbai League has played a crucial role in strengthening Mumbai’s cricket culture and providing emerging players the opportunity to compete alongside some of the biggest names in the sport. Hosting both men’s and women’s tournaments at Wankhede Stadium demonstrates MCA’s commitment to talent development and expanding the reach of Mumbai cricket.”
Rajdeep Gupta, Chairman of the League Governing Council, remarked, “Playing at Wankhede Stadium will be a significant moment for many young cricketers and an essential platform in their development journey. With live broadcasts on Star Sports and streaming on JioCinema, players will gain valuable exposure to audiences across the country. Fans can expect an exciting and high-quality brand of cricket throughout the tournament.”
The men’s competition will feature some of the biggest names in cricket alongside the city’s most promising emerging talents. Notable players include Suryakumar Yadav, Shreyas Iyer, Ajinkya Rahane, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shivam Dube, Sarfaraz Khan, Shardul Thakur, Tushar Deshpande, Ayush Mhatre, Angkrish Raghuwanshi, Mushir Khan, Suryansh Shedge, and Abhijnaan Kundu.
The inaugural women’s league will showcase some of the most promising young players from the domestic circuit along with notable names such as Sayali Satghare, Saima Thakor, Humaira Kazi, teenage batting sensation Ira Jadhav, who was the most expensive player in the auction, Sanika Chalke, and Simran Shaikh.
The men’s league will consist of 8 teams, while the first edition of the women’s league will feature 3 teams.
