Swiss Open: Sindhu, Prannoy ease into SF

Basel (Switzerland), March 25 : Ace Indian shuttler PV Sindhu has defeated Michelle Li of Canada 21-10, 21-19 here on Friday and made it to the women singles semifinal of Swiss Open Super 300 tournament. In the men’s singles, H S Prannoy got better of compatriot Parupalli Kashyap 21-16, 21-16 to enter the semifinal of Super 300 event. In the semifinal, Sindhu will play either Kisona Selvaduray of Malaysia, who has ousted Saina Nehwal in the second round, or Thailand’s Supanida Katethong. While, Prannoy will be up against the winner of a match between fellow India Sameer Verma and world no 5 Anthony Ginting of Indonesia. Sindhu, seeded second at the tournament, defeated Neslihan Yigit of Turkey 21-19, 21-14 to advance the quarterfinal. Prannoy had defeated Kalle Koljonen of Finland 19-21, 21-13, 21-9 in his second-round match to set up a final eight clash against Kashyap, who was given a walkover by reigning world no 1 Viktor Axelsen of Denmark after he withdrew from the tournament as he fell sick after his first round match.
